7“
AFOUS D’AFOUS - Tarhanine Tegla 7" (sahel - One of the biggest songs of contemporary Saharan music gets its first official release. Kader Tarhanine’s title track is a blissful love song with electric guitar and drum machine combo. The breakout hit placed Algeria's Group Afous d'Afous as undisputed stars of Tuareg guitar at home, yet they remain unknown outside of the Sahara. The autotuned Maghreb influenced Tarhanam Toussassi on the flip) 8.00
COLD SORE / THE LIGHT - split 7" (Cold Sore (OH) and The Light (CA) team up for one of the most crucial HC splits of the year. Cold Sore bash out three songs of thick, fast, violent hardcore featuring current/ex members of Shut Up, Altars, New Regrets, Big Wooly, Dog Fight, etc. The Light deliver two tracks of raw and unwavering hardcore punk featuring current/ex members of No Statik, Scrotum Grinder, etc. on red vinyl.) 6.00
THE MANTLES - Memory 7" (slumberland - The Bay Area's garage-pop greats The Mantles are back with their first new recordings since Long Enough To Leave and a tweaked line-up featuring the swirling keyboards of Carly Putnam and the rock-solid bass of Matt Bullimore. Memory is an upbeat song that recalls some of the finest of the Paisley Underground bands. Buoyed by Justin's twangy lead guitar and Carly's organ, "Memory" boasts the kind of easy lope and indelible melody that The Mantles make seem so effortless. On the flip we have "Undelivered," a rootsy tune whose psychedelic keyboards and moody demeanor align it firmly with the best of New Zealand's Flying Nun label.) 6.00
NERVOSAS - utility 7" (superdreamer - Following up 2015's sophomore LP via Dirtnap Records, this potent piece of black plastic holds three songs including an original and two covers) 6.00
PALACE OF WORMS / THOABATH - split 7" (king of the nonsters - Both hailing from the Bay Area, one track of blackened noise from THOABATH and one track of scathing black metal from PALACE OF WORMS.) 6.00
PSYCHIC WHEELS - deny it 7" (superdreamer - Psychic Wheels lays their clearest snapshots out as a last hurrah. Diametric tracks stretch out the spectrum of their catalog and attempt to sum it up simultaneously. Psychic Wheels has lived in an intersection previously not well-visited, playing in the fresh cross-hairs of a bubblegum pop sensibility and gloomier vibrations of reality via beloved and unholy, distorted electric guitars.) 6.00
TONY MOLINA - Confront The Truth 7" (We've all been waiting WAY too long for a new Tony Molina record, and this here eight song EP delivers in spades. Leaving the guitar crunch behind, Tony spotlights his formidable songwriting with spare, mostly acoustic arrangements that owe as much to early Bee Gees and Teenage Fanclub's mellower moments as they do to Georges Harrison and Martin. The sadness of this music has precedents in pop's past indeed, but in these songs you hear exactly what Tony found in those influences that shaped his experience -- years upon years of focus and isolation in developing his guitar and writing skills to speak to these truths. The main difference here is that where Tony's previous works felt casual and easy to digest, here we feel the full weight of his emotional needs pressed against the gentlest and most careful music of his career. The record's coda, a highlight reel of Thin Lizzy's "Banshee," indicates that the Tony you knew is still in there, but the game has changed, and the rules are entirely his own. Tony Molina is in complete control of his own destiny, and we should all care about where he's going.) 7.00
LP
AGE OF WOE - an ill wind blowing LP (war anthem - On their new album, An Ill Wind Blowing , Sweden's Age of Woe skitter past their Gothenburg roots in favor of a more Stockholm-flavored approach. The band's second album is a happy marriage of crunchy old-school Swedeath, gnarly apocalyptic crust, and 90s Iron Monkey-styled sludge—more barren industrial decay than swampy bayou. They cultivate an interesting atmosphere, as well, occasionally cushioning the extremity with traditional Moroccan folk instruments or scratchy electronic moments. The overwhelming vibe is one of desperation, from the broken leg pacing to the noisy, seething dissolution of tracks like "Heavy Clouds" and "Halo of Flies." It's not a pretty album by any stretch of the imagination, and doesn't try to be (atmospheric bits notwithstanding). Instead of wielding a hammer or twisting a knife, An Ill Wind Blowing goes for straight for the gut, raining down body blows that ache but don't topple.) 14.00
ANICON - exegeses LP (gilead - - "A masterpiece of modern usbm that not only displays anicon’s full potential, but black metal’s as well." - Decibel Magazine 8/10 review - "The players’ fervor, their fury; you can hear it in each member’s performance. Every ounce of “Amber” conveys what the rest is getting at. And true, bits of it are abstract, complex, insert your word here. The music, the whole, that feeling though, interprets it better than words or images." –Stereogum - "“Exegeses” already is on the short list of the best music put out so far in this middle-aged 2016, and it’s easily one of the most satisfying black metal records that have crawled out of any land during that time" - Meat Mead Metal (chosen as Pick Of The Week") 18.00
ASCEND DESCEND - Murdock Street LP (dead tank - Ascend Descend's debut release, Murdock Street, blends classic characteristics of old school hardcore punk with more modern influences. The result is the pissed off child of Modern Life is War, Cursed, with hints of Disfear. Vocalist Michelle Dugan recounts rising from tragedy and the burden of loss with an all-star band featuring members of American Nightmare, Lunglust, and Math The Band. This group is fast, heavy, to the point, and ready to add their name to the long list of heavy music legends known to their home city of Boston.) 12.00
CAROLINE K - Now Wait For Last Year LP (blackest ever black - Blackest Ever Black and Klanggalerie present the first ever vinyl reissue of Caroline K’s outstanding 1985 album, Now Wait For Last Year. This haunting and deeply narcotic work of post-industrial synthesizer music – the late Nocturnal Emissions co-founder’s only published solo record – has accrued a fervent cult following over the past 30 years, and copies of the original pressing are today extremely rare and sought-after. Appropriately enough for an album concerned with the disruption of linear time, the music seems to exist firmly outside of it. Caroline Kaye Walters formed Nocturnal Emissions in 1980 with Nigel Ayers, contributing voice, synthesizer, bass and drum programming to the group’s early releases. She and Ayers also co-founded Sterile Records (1979-1986), one of the key underground imprints of its time, home to music from the likes of SPK, Lustmord and Maurizio Bianchi. In later life Walters retreated from the public eye, and in 2001 married Daniel Ayers (Nigel’s brother, also of Nocturnal Emissions, and her collaborator in The Pump), moving to Garfagnana, Italy, where she resided until her death from leukaemia on July 12, 2008.) 18.00
CRYSTAL MYSLAJEK - circadia LP ( Captured in the depth of a Minnesota winter in a room equipped with two grand pianos, Crystal Myslajek produced the six track opus that is Circadia. Circadia is a contemplative, intuitive and luminous album of slowly unfurling arrangements for piano, voice, bass, drums and modular synthesizer. Myslajek (formerly of ethereal art-rock trio BRUTE HEART) is a Minneapolis-based performer and composer. Her compositions blend haunting vocals with minimalist classical piano, punctuated by bowed and plucked double bass, and sparse percussion. The sweeps and tones of a modular synthesizer articulates the colors already present in this modern achievement of musical production. Featuring Liz Draper (double bass), Chris Hepola (percussion and piano), and John Marks (modular synthesizer). LIMITED TO 300 COPIES) 18.00
DARBY & TARLTON - same LP (mississippi – Some of the more blues inflected country performances of the late 1920's - ear;y 1930's were made by Darby and Tarlton. This LP is a collection of some of their finest tunes. Very popular in their time, the pair recorded tons of blues, country ballads, and standards. Jimmy Tarlton's voice sours in the higher registers while Tom Darby holds it down with his almost droney low registered voice. Both play some fancy slide guitar work that veers towards the Hawaiian sound to accompany these severe emotional duets. Hit's include "Down in Georgia on a Hog", "Birmingham Jail", "Lonesome in the Pines", "The Rainbow Division", "My Little Blue Heaven" and many more. Limited one time pressing of 500 copies, housed in a beautiful silk screened cover.) 18.00
DAY CREEPER - central states LP (Day Creeper is an antidote. They’re X-ray vision through the bullshit. Here on their second LP, Central States, Aaron Troyer and gang acutely deliver their smartest set of unhinged, basement-born punk rock yet. It probably helps that this is their initial barrage as a four-piece, with a second guitar that sends them to complete power-mode, but something still feels more right than ever before. There’s effortlessness abound here: the melodies, the infectious sarcasm, the whole damn thing is like they were born to make this record “A new LP ripe with compelling hooks and robust songs, richly drenched with pure Midwest pop.” -Victim Of Time "The ten burns on this record blister forth with such resolute chord burstin’ dark snot zeal, it’s like falling in love all over again" -Fuckin’ Record Review "This quartet, here on their 2nd lp (they’ve got a few singles, too) come at it straight ahead with a minimum of bullshit" -Dagger Zin) 15.00
DEATHSTENCH / ACTUARY - split LP (king of the - Neither band should need an introduction at this point; this split exhibits new distrubing tracks from both Los Angeles-based bands. DEATHSTENCH bestow two ritual tracks of dense distorted reality cloaked in heavy darkness exposing you to the infinite void.ACTUARY contribute three tracks of layered desolate psychedelic rhythmic ambience mixed with pure grit harsh noise and tortured demonic screams, sure to make your skin crawl. 195 pressed on green with black swirl vinyl) 13.00
DECADES / FAILURES - G00DBY3 LP (dead tank - A new offering, and vinyl debut, from Richmond's Decades/Failures. Darkwave, coldwave, post-punk... Whatever you call it, it's eight songs of raw and urgent loner pulse. A suite of songs that followed quickly on the heels of this year's previous cassette releases; the lauded "002" full length and "February 14th" single. "GOODBY3" finds Decades/Failures restlessly evolving beyond the claustrophobic dark-synth frameworks of previous releases, creating a more minimal, airy yet tense atmosphere. The sonic palette has expanded too, the variety of synth sounds are dazzling dark jewels, and a strident guitar cuts through much of the album, with dour nods to Wire and early Cure. This is in part due to the addition of new member Alexis Ivy, whom Decades/Failures' mainstay Adam happened upon while searching out ancient electronic albums in thrift stores. And though it is said there is strength in numbers, the feeling of utter dejection and defeat that pervades this album will soak deep into the bones of listeners. Just listen to the reverb-cloaked whispers amidst the panicked rhythms of theses songs and know that all is not well. And it never will be...) 12.00
DOW JONES AND THE INDUSTRIALS - can´t stand the midwest 1979-1981 DLP (family vinyard - For just more than two years starting in 1979, Dow Jones and the Industrials created roaring art-punk that collided with the confusion and celebration of technology. Their left field approach turned gnarled guitar riffs into unshakable melodies battered by synths and propelled with sharp lyrics. The songs railed against the boredom and cultural blandness of the Midwest and mirrored the paranoia of the era. As maverick studio producers and ace songwriters, the Industrials realized a vision and sound not only on par with contemporaries Devo and Pere Ubu, but still relevant and cutting today. Outside of bootleg compilation appearances and the overpriced collectors' market, the music of DJI has been unavailable for 35 years until now. "Can't Stand The Midwest 1979-1981" includes 29 songs remastered from the original tapes: The Industrials' side from "Hoosier Hysteria," the rare 1980 split LP with the Gizmos; 1981 7-inch EP; 9 unreleased studio tracks; live versions of unrecorded songs and more. A 12-page booklet features liner notes by the Gizmos' Dale Lawrence and Keith Smith's never before seen Indiana punk scene photos. The 2xLP also comes with a 70-minute DVD of a September 1980 club performance and download coupon.) 31.00
THE ELSINORES - new form LP (dead tank - "Kentucky's Elsinores' debut album Dreams Of Youth was a dark, tense, explosive body of songcraft, showcasing a fully formed creative sensibility, that might be difficult to top - and yet one mere year later they've fulfilled all that early promise by neatly sidestepping the curse of the Difficult. Second. Album. with "New Forms." How did they do it? From the sound of things, listened to a lot of postpunk, drank a lot of coffee and did a lot of midnight wandering down deserted streets in grey raincoats. Cigarettes optional. Elsinores circa "New Forms" are bleak and cinematic in scope. The lineup has solidified around the Oasis-brothers-but-not-shitty (Or the for real Ramones? Dunno, but their interplay on and off stage can be comedy gold) tandem of Joey and Jon Elsinore handling vocals, guitar, and bass and the permanent addition of West Virginian wildman J. Marinelli on drums and vocals. So you've got an unhinged new spin on the "power trio" lineup with everyone bashing away gleefully and physically at the same time AND three vocalists.) 12.00
FANGE - purge LP (throatruiner - "Founded in 2013 in Rennes (western France) by Huata’s bassist B.Moreau with the will of pushing sludge in its more abrasive, mind-numbing corners, FANGE’s debut EP «Poisse» revealed a band with an uncommon take of the genre. Re-appropriating the classic Swedish death metal sound with detours to harsh noise, crust or metallic hardcore, the band now fully realize their sound on their first album «Purge», strengthened by a new line-up that features drummer B.Louvet and vocalist M.Jungbluth (Calvaiire). With only one guitar throwing out monstrous HM-2 fueled riffs, stomach-kicking yet versatile drum work and bile-gargling, mutilated vocals, «Purge» marks a filthier turn in the band’s uncompromising wall of sound. Entirely recorded by KKP (Abjvration, Huata, Ataraxie…) and enhanced by ear-piercing layers of noise, these six tracks are an exhausting aural experience. This is ignorant music for the Educated Man. For fans of : irrational feelings of guilt, Tom G.Warrior vocal gimmicks, body negativity." ) 13.00
HARMONICA FRANK - same LP (mississippi - One of the more curious country / blues / early rock n' roll performers - here we have a collection of all of the recordings of Harmonica Frank made between 1951 and 1954. Frank plays many types of folk music and is a mimic, effortlessly switching from humorous hillbilly ballads to deep country blues. With his self-taught harmonica technique, he was a one-man band, able to play the instrument without his hands or the need for a neck brace. While also playing guitar, he perfected a technique of manipulating the harmonica with his mouth while he sang out of the other side. He could also play harmonica with his nose and thus play two harmonicas at once. On this LP we find early proto rock and roll, country blues, weird humorous recitations (with generous "eephing" solos), and some country music. This record might be difficult for some to listen too.... Limited one time pressing of 500 copies, housed in a beautiful silk screened sleeve. )18.00
JOANNA GRUESOME - peanut butter LP (slumberland - Finally, Joanna Gruesome are back with their very eagerly-awaited second album! Rival groups will be disappointed to learn that the record is a further experiment in combining hyper melodic pop music with sonic violence. Officials have confirmed that the album contains a record number of hooks, traces of nut and elements of jangle pop, British hardcore punk, atonal music, screaming and drone organs. Yet they have issued warnings of "a marriage of radical politics with peanut butter spread." One authorized statement reads: "Weighing in at a concise 25 minutes, the album hurtles through its ten songs, each one a succinct, powerful gem.") 17.00
JUNGLE NAUSEA – same LP (water winger - Jungle Nausea formed at the dawn of the 80s when some members of SMEGMA recruited other Portland new-music enthusiasts (including poster artist Mike King) for a project that would combine punk, new wave, American roots music, and a sense of humor. They weren't much like the other local bands of the era, but that wasn't what they were going for. Instead they found their own twisted path, playing the heck out of their mix of conventional and homemade instruments and getting unintended sounds out of their rhythm machine. The live shows were few, but incredibly memorable. This release combines their 1982 EP in its entirety, and a whole side of unreleased live and studio tracks. All tracks engineered by the legendary Mike Lastra of SMEGMA. Co-released by Community Library LIMITED TO 600 COPIES) 18.00
KNIFE HITS - eris LP (dead tank - "The brutal/intense side of screamo, veering into grind, along the lines of Orchid, Pg. 99, early Converge and Discordance Axis." – Decibel Recorded and mixed by Jonathan Nunez of Torche, Eris is twelve tracks of wounded and rabid hardcore, evoking turn-of-the-millennium screamo bands like Orchid and Pg. 99 who dealt in passion, poetry, and all-out brutality. The sound is so intense, it veers from screamo to grindcore, with blastbeats pelting like a hailstorm and riffs hurtling forward the way Discordance Axis' once did, and occasionally slows to a white-knuckle, Converge-worthy dirge. Akin to newer bands like Loma Prieta,Knife Hits takes the most crushing and emotive vibes of the late '90s/early '00s scene and makes new magic with it Formed in Orlando, Florida in 2011, and relocated to Philly and Chicago, Knife Hits consists of members of grind-punkers Backslider, and ex-members of Khann, Republicorpse, and more. Eris is a joint effort between three labels: Dead Tank Records is handling the digital release, and Dead Tank, Hydrogen Man and Give Praise are teaming up for the vinyl. The album was mastered by Nick Zampiello (Modern Life Is War, Unsane) ) 12.00
KRALLICE - hyperion LP (gilead - On January 1st, 2016, following quickly behind the release of their recent full length, Ygg huur, Krallice unveiled a three song EP on their bandcamp page. These three tracks total 23 minutes 52 seconds and comprise the Hyperion EP. Although released in 2016, this EP was written and recorded in 2013 for an intended split release that never materialized. Rather than allowing this material to remain in the shadows, Krallice chose to present the album as its own release. The songs contained therein are a perfect view into the transition between 2012’s Years Past Matter and Ygg huur, intricate yet atmospheric.) 17.00
LITHICS - Borrowed Floors LP (water wing - Lithics is a four person minimalist punk band from Portland, Oregon formed in late 2014. Over the last year and a half they have refined a sound focusing on interlocked bass and drum rhythms paired with shrill guitar counterpoint and stark female vocals. While counting Wire, The Fall, Devo, Pylon, The Shadow Ring, and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band as reference points, the band's concerns are contemporary and urgent. An injection of uptight, nervous energy into the reverb drenched complacency of today's musical underground. "...basically the stuff of my post-punk dreams, with needles-and-pins guitar lines jabbing and competing for space with minimalist, meditative bass/drums synchronization and coolly detached female vocals that drift somewhere between the twin inspirations of Allison Statton of Young Marble Giants, and Vanessa Briscoe of Pylon." - Erika Elizabeth, Maximum Rock 'n' Roll #392.) 17.00
LITTLE HOWLIN' WOLF - guardian LP (family vinyard - Reissue of the 1982 LP by Chicago street musician, bluesman, actor, storyteller and truth seeker known as Little Howlin' Wolf. Wolf is also a true outsider, whose wrenching soulfulness and fire-brained intensity have been captured in a breadcrumb trail of confounding and intentionally obscure self-released records. In the late 1960s Wolf -- born James Pobiega in 1950 -- was already a saxophone wailing fixture at the legendary Chicago hangout, Maxwell Street Market. By the mid-1980s he released nearly three dozen 45s. Those singles are sprawling journeys into Wolf’s world vision, as told through his gravelly voice and an array of instruments in styles and influences not limited to: American Indian, Polish and gypsy folk musics, Voodoo, vocal chants, blues, calypso and avant jazz. Often, it’s all filtered through overdubbed abstraction. Wolf issued two LPs collecting some of those singles -- The Guardian (1982) andCool Truth (1985) -- both now reissued by Family Vineyard. The Guardian is a baffling, hyper-creative statement recorded between 1976 and 1982. It’s also vastly sincere and some of Wolf’s most accessible and deeply emotional songs, yet it orbits a universe known only by the likes of Captain Beefheart or Albert Ayler. This vinyl reissue features replicated LP jackets, with Wolf’s original transcendent liner notes, and labels bearing the Solidarity Solidarnosc Records name; never before seen photos; new essay by ethnomusicologist/ Canary Records head Ian Nagoski; and download coupon. Timothy Stollenwerk remastered the audio as sourced from multiple copies of the records as the master tapes were destroyed in a fire.) 19.00
THE MANTLES - All Odds End LP (slumberland - The Bay Area's finest folk/pop/psych/garage band returns with "All Odds End," another understated, marvelously-textured guitar pop album featuring a tweaked line-up that now includes the swirling keyboards of Carly Putnam and the rock-solid bass of Matt Bullimore. "All Odds End" is full of folky, garagey flavors that echo the Paisley Underground and the best of New Zealand's underground pop. The lovely, sympathetic production by Jason Quever (Papercuts, The Donkeys, Elisa Ambroglio) only serves to underline the timeless nature of the tunes, songs that are at once familiar and fresh and place The Mantles into a category all their own.) 17.00
MICHAEL HURLEY - bad mr. mike LP (mississippi - A new LP by the great MICHAEL HURLEY! Michael is one of the world finest and most prolific songwriters—nd he's still cranking out hits. The well is far from dry. This LP features home recordings with Michael on guitar, banjo and organ. Sublime and sometimes a little strange—a new classic for the ages. Songs include the "Kentucky 3"—a beautiful instrumental medley of songs evocative of Kentucky, "Charona"—a great banjo ballad, "Tender is the Guitar"—a mournful organ driven ballad, "Boone and Jocko"—a longstanding favorite epic from Michael's live sets on record at last, "Cuckoo Rock" and "Lo Bonney"—two unique rewordings of traditional ballads, "Dragging the Indian"—a stark instrumental, and much more. Don't sleep on this work of genius. Cover art by Michael himself.) 17.00
REAL NUMBERS - Wordless Wonder LP (Finally! We're excited to bring you the brilliant debut album from this Minneapolis band whose string of excellent singles and EPs have been staples on the SLR turntable. Well-crafted crash-pop is the order of the day, with echoes of such greats at Television Personalities, The McTells and Cause Co-Motion adding historical color to these great songs. Wordless Wonder's ten tunes are brief and perfectly-formed, benefitting from thoughtful production that expands the band's DIY approach into rich new areas. Cut at 45rpm for maximum oomph, this great album is guaranteed to take a stake out a permanent spot in your "now playing" pile.) 17.00
SEX TIDE - Vernacular Splatter LP (superdreamer - Once asked why such strange and endearing music originates from Ohio, Lux Interior suggested that “It’s the asshole of the Earth, the kids know there is no way out and they don’t listen to ANYONE!” On Vernacular Splatter, big beats detonate and tumble like volcanic debris while lascivious guitars imitate the Doppler effect of passing sirens. Celine’s voice is both mournful and righteous, burning white-hot like the ultimate rustbelt Cassandra warning of impending doom.) 15.00
TERRY MALTS - Lost At The Party LP (slumberland - Our punk heroes Terry Malts are back with their third album and it's their boldest pop statement yet. There's always been a melodic core to the Malts sound, but this time around the band has decided to focus on it, using enhanced studio techniques to emphasize the POP. The band's influences have always included flavors like the Flying Nun sound and classic power-pop, and now they put their augmented sonic palette in the service of some of their strongest tunes yet. It's still plenty punk, but also their most sophisticated outing yet.) 17.00
TOMORROW THE RAIN WILL FALL UPWARDS - Wreck His Days LP (blackest ever black - Who or what is Tomorrow The Rain Will Fall Upwards? A he, a she, a they, an it? Someone, no one, anyone, everyone…Blackest Ever Black’s most cloistered and curiously monikered project, which first broke cover in 2014 with a 10” offering of two “elegies in dub”, returns with Wreck His Days: a long-player of unexpected scale, complexity and political passion. It doesn’t feel like a band per se, but it feels collaborative. Certain vocal and instrumental parts are credited to named personnel, among them Conrad Standish, Jonnine Standish (HTRK), Genevieve McGuckin (These Immortal Souls) and Lucas Santanna; the ghosts of Les Baxter, Roland S. Howard, Nina Simone and Daevid Allen seem to be present in the album’s make-up too. Structurally, if not musically, it echoes the grand collective statements of This Mortal Coil or Massive Attack. And yet the absolute coherence of the album, its thematic unity, suggests the work of an auteur – an individual with a precise and totalising vision. Maybe, maybe not. If this album originates in one person’s imagination, they evidently prefer to remain hidden – possibly in plain view.) 17.00
UNINHABITABLE - same LP (dead tank - Dark crusty punk metal from Asheville, NC. Caustic female vocals. Downtuned guitars. Uninhabitable add brief idylls of postpunk brooding and minimalism to their serrated crust-metal assault. A darkness pervades. The sonic equivalent of your throat filling up with blood on an absolutely still, grey day. Not a single note is wasted, as the band carefully builds towering spirals of intricate and labyrinthine metallics, before destroying the whole thing in fits of full-on rage multiplied by some truly top-notch vocal torture. Zen-like patience paired perfectly with berserker rage, the three songs on this album are full of ambition with not even the slightest hint of pretense. Ex-members of Kakistocracy.) 12.00
UNRUH - tomb ( discography ) 3xLP Box (king of the monster - LP1 = Misery Strengthened Faith LP LP2 = Setting Fire To Sinking Ships LP LP3 = Singles & EP's (collects 7"s, splits, demos and comp tracks) Within the half decade of their existence, UNRUH churned out a respectable arsenal of recorded works, including several demos, two LPs through King Of The Monsters and Pessimiser, several split releases and EPs, notable compilation inclusions and more, all of which are now being collectively re-released in a 3-LP box set, Tomb. The massive package will include the Misery Strengthened Faith and Setting Fire To Sinking Ships LP's as well as an entire third platter of B-Sides, amassing the two demos, the band’s splits with Enewetak and Creation Is Crucifixion, the Friendly Fire EP and their material from the Seven Deadly Sins and Cry Now, Cry Later compilations. Comes with digital download card with a bonus live set from CBGBs recorded on their 1997 tour with Fall Silent.) 35.00
VERMIN WOMB - decline LP (throatruiner - "Formed from the ashes of Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire by vocalist/guitarist Ethan McCarthy (also of Primitive Man and Withered) and bassist Zach Harlan, Denver, Colorado's VERMIN WOMB appeared on many a radar with their 2014 EP "Permanence". While the band’s debut album "Decline" marks the arrival of ex-CTTTOAFF JP Damron on drumming duties, these ten tracks sound nothing like a return to form, as the band managed to be faster, uglier and heavier than ever.
VERMIN WOMB’s brand of ultra brutality gives no quarter, enhancing their no-bullshit grinding death metal with dissonant death/black murkiness, war metal savagery and sludgy breakdowns. With McCarthys’s trademark subterranean barks, raw-sounding blast beats and imperial riffs bolstered by Dave Otero’s thick production, Decline is one of these short albums designed for maximum impact. If you ever wondered how extreme metal would sound like once purged of any unnecessary artifices, here’s your answer.") 13.00
V/A - Ghost memories LP (mississippi – The long awaited sequel to our "Six Feet Under" compilation! Absolute killer country and rock and roll songs from the late 1950's - early 1960's. Minor chords abound in both rocking tunes and straight up weepers. The real stuff - no goofy novelties or commercial palp. Honest peoples music. V/A - This is Kologo Power! LP (sahel - Hi energy Ghanian contemporary “Kologo” music, the West African two stringed banjo. Stripped down studio recordings push the two stringed lute into expansive territories of dance floor worthy bangers. Cousin to delta blues, in both forceful style and strong social messages, sung in Frafra and pidgin English. Recorded in local studios in Ghana and Amsterdam, and produced by King Ayisoba. Limited 500 edition North American pressing.) 18.00
YOUNG GUV - Ripe 4 Luv LP (slumberland - We've been fans of Toronto's Young Guv for a mighty long time, and are very pleased to bring you this fantastic mini-LP. Coming on like Big Star produced by Prince, this record smoothly covers everything from the rhythm box pop of "Crushing Sensation" to the power-pop classicism of "Crawling Back To You," from the brilliant jangle of "Living The Dream" to the Tears For Fears-tinged 80s vibe of epic closer "Wrong Crowd." Young Guv has been releasing singles, EPs and tapes for several years now (not to mention his work with Fucked Up, The Bitters and his Bad Actors label), but with Ripe 4 Luv he's finally fully realized his pop vision.) 17.00
