BLACK MARKET BRASS - Big Muffler / Snake Oil 7" (secret stash - Secret Stash Records is proud to partner with Minneapolis based BLACK MARKET BRASS for the first in a series of 45s containing new music recorded by the label. Black Market Brass is an 11 piece Afrobeat band that delivers a unique, yet very authentic interpretation of the genre. “Big Muffler” is a hard charging tune that always keeps asses moving on the dance floor. “Snake Oil” is an intricate song that mixes heavy grooves with an intensely eerie vibe. Both tracks were recorded live in one room directly to tape, capturing an energy lost in many of todays over produced digital recordings. This 7” is a must have for any fan of Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat sound.) 6.00
THE BRATS - Quaalude Queen 7" (hozac - When guitarist RICK RIVETS left the fledgling NEW YORK DOLLS in 1973, he didn't switch gears so much as he just assembled one of the toughest US Glam rock bands of the era, THE BRATS, who with the help of Whiplash Records, released their debut single, one of the first independent "underground" singles to come out of the New York scene, along with Television's "Little Johnny Jewel." Released initially in 1974 on a defective pressing, it quickly slipped into obscurity until in 1976 when the label re-issued the 7" while that version of the band was no longer active, resulting in poor distribution and ultimately a failed release based on it's incredible potential. We have gone through the archives with the folks at Whiplash Records and culled out superior versions of theses two classic glam rock cuts, both cleaner and louder than ever presented before. Some may recall the vicious cover of "Be A Man" by SF Bay Area punk legends, The Infections on their debut LP as possibly their first exposure to the Brats, so its with great excitement to add the Brats to the roster of HoZac Archival with this sparkling and powerful proto-punk debut single, now presented with the trashy clarity and gritty city ugliness painfully intact. First pressing of 600 copies Black vinyl.) 7.00
BRETT SMILEY - Va Va Va Voom / Space Ace 7" (sing sing - For every David Bowie, Brian Ferry or Marc Bolan, there were scores of glam divas-in-waiting like Jobriath and BRETT SMILEY. At least Jobriath, the world's first openly-gay rock star, got a chance to release two monstrously campy and epic LPs before public backlash silenced him forever. The winsome and sinewy Brett Smiley did not fare as well, recording Breathlessly Brett during a flurry of interest by the international music press, only to have the album cruelly pushed aside by an uncaring record industry and shelved permanently. Smiley was the willowy, blonde personification of glam, discovered and promoted like a classic Hollywood ingénue by Rolling Stones producer ANDREW LOOG OLDHAM’s vision for Smiley was to elevate the young man to the rarefied status of untouchable superstar before his first single was out. This single, originally released in 1974 on the UK Anchor label stands as one of the best glam rock 45's of the era, reissued for the first time in it's original, very hard to find picture sleeve) 7.00
DWIGHT TWILLEY BAND - Shark / Burnin Sand 7" (hozac - DWIGHT TWILLEY is an American power pop icon from the pre-Ramones/Cheap Trick era that slipped though the cracks due to bad management decisions and the entanglements of the major label record business, that despite his debut single "I'm On Fire" hitting the top 20 on the Billboard charts in 1975, he's still unfortunately not a household name. Some called him the American T. Rex and others the missing link between Big Star and Tom Petty, but any way you cut it, Tulsa, OK's pop hero is back and ready to knock you back to high school. He's appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand several times as well as the esteemed Don Kirschner's Rock Concert TV series the SAME NIGHT as the infamous Sex Pistols episode, therefore it never aired. This single was shelved in the summer of 1975 due to close proximity to the super popular Jaws film, of which the management sadly decided it would be too cliche, so we have rescued the track along with a scorching B-side from the CD-only Great Lost Twilley Album, procuring two incredible hits never before available on vinyl. Pure pop perfection from the pre-Ramones era that will light up your life and cap off your summer in the best way possible. First Pressing of 600 copies Black vinyl.) 6.00
HUMAN ABFALL - sng 7" (spastic fantastic - new band from Stuttgart Germany. Great german Punk ala Mittagspause, Syph etc. Snooty and catchy ... Love it) 5.00
JAY VONS - Night (was Stealing From The Sun) 7" (la ti da - The second single from this Brooklyn foursome. Features current and former members of REIGNING SOUND (all sans Greg), along with key members of the Daptone stable. Packaged with artwork by RICK FROBERG.) 6.00
THE KIDS - No Monarchy 7" (danger - Official reissue of the first single "No Monarchy" made by the greatest belgian punk band, THE KIDS. Originally released in 1978 on Fontana. "No Monarchy," "Rock Over Belgium" and "The City Is Dead" appear as brillant ‘77 Punk scorchers.) 9.00
LEVITATIONS - partners in crime 7" (cut the cord - Melodic punk from Berlin. A friend said it sounded like a mix between The Go Go’s and killed by death records. Others say they were creating their very own style, but could be Berlins answer to Super Wild Horse or are similar to Kleenix or Lilliput. Who cares ?) 5.00
LOW CULTURE - evil / slave to you 7" (cut the cord - Scrappy, melodic garagepunk from Las Cruces, NM. Members of The Marked Men and Shang-A-Lang. In late 2011, when it was clear that Shang-A-Lang was coming to an end, Chris asked Sam and Cade (of Total Jock) if they wanted to start a new band. Low Culture practiced a few times as a three-piece, but a few weeks later Joe (Marked Men/Shang-A-Lang) moved back to Las Cruces and joined the band. Low Culture’s first show was in early November2011 was at Shang-A-Lang’s last show and the band's been moving full steam ahead ever since. Produced by Mark Ryan (Marked Men/Mind Spiders) in Fort Worth, mastered by Dave Williams (Crusades, Steve Adamyk Band) in Ottawa. This is their 2nd 7" after their debut lp for Dirtnap Records just came out a few weeks ago.) 5.00

MISSING MONUMENTS - Blast! 7" (slovenly - When the legendary KING LOUIE BANKSTON and his MISSING MONUMENTS stopped by the Slovenly USA office on a recent tour, they said they wanted to do a single for us. We replied with, “Sure! Just make sure it’s fuckin filthy.” And here ya have it, the Blast! EP, released to coincide with their new self-titled LP on Dirtnap Records. This exclusive three track monstrosity gives us the filth we were promised in the title track, and a corrosive jangle with complicated poetics on “Ghost HWY.” Doing what they do best, Missing Monuments lay down some serious power-pop skills on the B-side with “Covered In Ice”—a dirty, southern barroom swinger with all the infectiousness of the sweet, germy influences worn on their leather sleeves.) 6.00
NEGATIVE TREND - same 7" (superior viaduct - Negative Trend were ground zero for California punk. Formed in San Francisco in 1977, they shared the stage with other now-legendary bands such as Dead Kennedys, The Dils, The Avengers, and The Sleepers. Their sole EP first appeared in 1978 to reveal the shape of punk to come. “Black and Red” features guitarist Craig Gray’s nihilistic riffs and singer Mikal Waters’s ominous battle cries. “Meathouse” is a hardcore anti-ballad to the Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco’s answer to CBGB’s. The group disbanded soon after a brief sojourn with vocalist Rik L. Rik (F-Word), yet the break-up birthed even more maladjusted offspring. Will Shatter (bass) and Steve DePace (drums) formed Flipper, and Gray would go on to found Toiling Midgets (the first band signed to Rough Trade’s US label). One of the most sought-after US punk records, the Negative Trend EP made such an impression on a young Henry Rollins that decades later he reissued it on CD on his 2.13.61 imprint. Superior Viaduct and Subterranean Records are proud to make Negative Trend available again on vinyl in its original 7-inch format.) 9.00
NEW BUMS - slim volume 7" (new bums industry - Slim Volume is the debut single by New Bums, a duo consisting of Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) and Donovan Quinn (Skygreen Leopards). Although the two began playing together during the summer of 2008 while neighbors in San Francisco, 2013 has seen them finally performing live (including touring with Bill Callahan) and recording. Slim Volume exemplifies the surreal storytelling, 4:00 A.M. acoustic guitars and urban paranoia that lie at the core of their music.) 6.50
REPLICA - same 7" (cut the cord – eu press - EU PRESS The debut 7" EP from the San Francisco Bay Area's Replica is fueled by searing guitar, fast, blasting drum beats, sturdy, tough bass lines and brash, raw vocals. Five tracks that thread many different hardcore influences and sounds - from the metallic thrash and high energy of current Brazillian hardcore to a raw, straightforward punk attack like early LA proto-hardcore or East Bay punk, to the wild, unpredictability of '90s thrash, to make a unique whole. Members from Duck And Cover, Infect and No Statik.) 5.00
SONNY KNIGHT AND THE LAKERS - Hey Girl / Sugar Man 7" (secret stash -
TRUE BELIEVERS - Accept It! 7" (hozac -
WHITE LUNG - Blow It South 7" (deranged - Two new songs from Vancouver's WHITE LUNG continue where Sorry left off. Honing on their unrelenting post punk formula, WL returns with a clear confidence that they can write great songs and plan on delivering on the goods. Featured as best new song on both Pitchfork and Stereogum, these songs are some of their best. The band has been busy in 2013 but expect them to be everywhere starting early next year.) 5.00
LP
ALESSANDRO CORTINI - Forse 2 DLP (important - ALESSANDRO CORTINI’s second release in his Forse trilogy is full of thick analog brightness and deep analog warmpth. Despite also being fully composed on a Buchla Music Easel, the feeling of Forse 2 is quite different from Forse 1 and this deluxe double vinyl release is the ultimate way to experience this engaging work. "All pieces were written and performed live on a Buchla Music Easel, in the span of one month. I found that the limited array of modules that the instrument offers sparked my creativity. Most pieces consist of a repeating chord progression, where the real change happens at a spectral/dynamic level, as opposed to the harmonic/chordal one. I believe that the former are just as effective as the latter, in the sense that the sonic presentation (distortion , filtering, wave shaping, etc) are just as expressive as a chord change or chord type, and often reinforce said chord progressions. Of all the years with Nine Inch Nails the period spent writing and recording the instrumental record Ghosts I-IV is probably the one which changed my approach to music making the most. After that record I started getting more into instrumental composition, although I tried to approach it in a different way. While we had a vast array of tools and instruments at our disposal then, I decided to approach my pieces limiting myself to one instrument only, as I found myself being more decisive when faced with a limited creative environment." Pressed in an edition of 500.) 31.00
THE BALLANTYNES - Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church LP (la ti - THE BALLANTYNES are a seven-piece band and labor of love formed in East Vanciuver in 2011. With a sound best described as “garage/gospel,” the band delivers their first 12” EP following three out-of-print 7-inches Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church is a record about falling in love with mixed results and was produced by FELIX FUNG (Chains Of Love). Six Hammond-organ soaked tracks.) 13.00
BOTANIST / PALACE OF WORMS -Hanging Gardens Of Hell / Ode To Joy LP (flenser - San Francisco’s two most peculiar black metal bands have conspired to release a mind bending split LP via The Flenser. Botanist and Palace of Worms each contribute three tracks mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven) at The Atomic Garden Studios; the album is available on vinyl in a limited edition. Botanist is an unconventional one-man post-black metal act featuring vocals, drums and hammered dulcimer instrumentation. Hanging Gardens of Hell is told from the perspective of a crazed man of science who lives in self-imposed exile, as far away as possible from humanity and its crimes against nature. The Botanist awaits the day when humans will either die or kill each other off, which will allow plants to reclaim the Earth. Formed in 2007, Palace of Worms is a one-man black metal band in the vein of Leviathan and Crebain. Frontman Balan plays all instruments: drums, guitar, bass. Palace of Worms has released a demo, two full-lengths (2009’s The Forgotten and 2010’s Lifting the Veil) and a 2012 split with Mastery.) 17.00
COLD BEAT - Worms / Year 5772 12" (the moon - Cold Beat is Hannah Lew, bassist and co-songwriter of the band Grass Widow. It’s the fully expressed voice and emotions of one person, versus the harmonic and lock-step declarations of three women. It’s the emergence of Lew as a singular voice, using dream logic and abstraction to describe the themes of death, internet surveillance, paranoia and science fiction that permeate her music. “Worms” is the lead single off “Worms/Year 5772,” the first EP from Cold Beat, out 11/5 on Lew’s new label, Crime On The Moon. Written not too long after Hannah Lew's father passed away in 2009, it’s largely about the horror of things one does and does not know about death. Lew uses the tools of pop music to access the inaccessible and honor her grief while discussing some of the most jarring aspects of her father's death. However, anyone who listens to “Worms” can hear that it transcends the overtly personal and manifests itself as melodious and universal.) 12.00
COUM TRANSMISSIONS - Home Aged & The 18 Month Hope LP (dais - The most recent installment of the rare & unheard archival recordings from the transgressive ‘70s performance art group COUM TRANSMiSSIONS. Founded in late 1969 by GENESIS P-ORRIDGE, COUM Transmissions’s provocative performances mixed with visual art solidified the group as one of the most forward thinking breakthroughs within the ‘70s conceptual art scene. Only in the past couple years has COUM’s recorded works seen the light of day. This release collects various selections spanning the years 1971 through 1975, including a rare live performance opening for Hawkwind, lost radio interview, obtuse poetry readings by early member FIZZEY PEAT, piano & violin compositions by Genesis P-Orridge and insightful field recordings. Limited to 1,000 vinyl copies.) 20.00
CRUSADES - Perhaps You Deliver This Judgement With Greater Fear Than I Receive It LP (no idea - THE BALLANTYNES are a seven-piece band and labor of love formed in East Vanciuver in 2011. DAMON - Song of A Gypsy LP + 12" /(now again - ltd edition w/ bonus 12" Deluxe reissue of the legendary late ’60s Los Angeles psychedelic masterpiece: restored/remastered transfer, pitch/speed corrected for the first time ever. Contains second disc: the entirety of Damon’s ’60s recordings, and never-before-heard demos. Extensive booklet contains dozens of unpublished photos and images, a thorough investigation into this landmark album, and an extensive interview with Damon. Damon’s Song of A Gypsy is generally regarded as one of the finest privately-pressed psychedelic rock records and has, for over twenty years, been one of the most sought after late 60s American rock artifacts in the world, with the scant original copies that exist exchanging hands for thousands of dollars.) 25.00
EPICYCLE - You’re Not Gonna Get It - 1978-81 LP (hozac - Like a snotty bottle rocket shot out of The Damned’s dressing room and straight into the gut of Cheap Trick, suburban Chicago's sorely under appreciated teen punk pioneers, EPICYCLE, were left out by most modern historical accounts of Midwest underground music of the time, which is such a shame. We here at HoZac first contacted the band about 10 years ago when researching our Trunk City Punk: Chicago Underground 1976-81 feature article for Horizontal Action Magazine, so it was only natural as we evoled into a record label that we needed to rescue these tracks from the cracks of history. With this compilation LP, we present to you the original punch this band was trying to deliver with their three incredible singles, and tracks from their sole LP, along with some pre-razored demos from their earliest sessions, when they were angry, young, and unstoppable.) 16.00
FIRST BASE - same LP (hozac - Wait, is this a new band? We've positioned this incredible debut LP along with our Archival series batch for good reason, as FIRST BASE are one of the purest bands you're likely to come across, a true pop milestone so authentic and airtight, you'll swear you've heard these chords before. Originally one of the 'mystery bands on MySpace" from the mid-2000's, FIRST BASE released a string of much loved singles & EPs but kept a low profile despite being an active performing band in their hometown of Toronto, but it wasn't their intent to be anonymous. If you'll recall, they gained a wider appreciation after Personal & the Pizzas covered their iconic "Nobody Makes My Girl Cry But Me" which pushed them further onto the underground pop radar, and they returned the favor by covering " I Don't Feel So Happy Now" on their last EP. But affiliations aside, FIRST BASE are going to leave a deep scar on your world, and they'll be dumping sugar and syrup deep in those wounds with every repeated listen of this incredible pop debut. Like Jesus & Mary Chain fronting the Ramones, covering Joey Levine, FIRST BASE are pure honey-dripping salvation from the sadistic world we're trapped inside, a true ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day, just try to not melt away.) 16.00
FOR AGAINST - for against 3xLP Box Set (captured tracks - Captured Tracks will be reissuing the first three full lengths from seminal Lincoln, Nebraska post-punk trio, For Against. Originally released by Independent Project between 1984-1990, these releases will see their first vinyl appearance in over 20 years in a deluxe edition limited boxed set. Remastered by Words on Music (by Marc Ostermeier of Should), the set will feature a bonus booklet and ephemera from the bands early career. For Against was an anomaly within the midwestern post-punk climate, offering melodic and dreamy hook-laden songs in stark contrast to the post-hardcore sounds of the time. With this release, their firmament and place within today's current crop of guitar-based indie bands should be made secure. The For Against 3xLP Box Set will be available in a limited run of 1,000. Each LP has an individual jacket that recreates the original album art and includes a 12 page 12x24" booklet with full color photos and liner notes. All of this comes packaged in a beautiful midnight blue matte wrap box with gold foil stamping.) 80..00
FRESH & ONLYS - Soothsayer LP (mexican summer - San Francisco's FRESH & ONLYS are back, following up 2012's stunning Long Slow Dance with Soothsayer, a special digital and 12" vinyl installment release. Featuring six brand new tracks that are heavy on the pop-side, the Onlys reconfirm their effortless songwriting panache and renowned stylistic flexibility—shifting from driving, anthemic choruses to down-home folk with absolute comfort and ease. From the opening title-track, with its jaunty bridge and studied '60s pop sensibility, it's clear that the band are still masters of the (deceptively) simple melody. "God of Suez" is a swaying, beach-ready boogie, with a charming Mamas & Papas guitar lick, whilst "Forest Down Annie"'s slow, reverent pace and psychedelic guitar flourishes harken back to the group's gloomier earlier releases. Closer “Deluge of War" boasts a soaring, harmonic chorus—finishing up Soothsayer on a high. "Strong", "solid" or "dependable" might not be the most buzz-worthy words in the current musical zeitgeist, but in an age where so many bands are masking songs with muddied production and studio trickery, it's refreshing to hear some truly great songwriting and musicianship shine through.) 17.00
FUZZ - Live In San Francisco LP (castle face - “Behold—when we introduced this live series, we spoke of lightning in a jar—this here’s a thunderstorm. TY SEGALL’s new stoner thrashers FUZZ not only totally murdered this set at San Francisco leather-daddy hangout The SF Eagle, but it was Ty’s birthday and he blew out his birthday cake candles mid-song, didn’t miss a beat, and that moment is forever etched into this record (we took a photo, too).) 15.00
THE GIST - Embrace The Herd LP (1972 - Though lesser-known than Young Marble Giants’ output, the sole LP from Stuart Moxham’s The Gist is an essential entry in the great canon of English post-punk. As the principle composer in Young Marble Giants, Moxham honed minimal songwriting to maximal effect with the help of early electronic experimentation. He formed The Gist shortly before Young Marble Giants’ dissolution to realize experiments in sound outside his primary group’s mold and feature friends from such bands as Essential Logic and Swell Maps. The Gist yielded several singles and Embrace the Herd, originally released in 1982 on Rough Trade and featuring fellow Giants Alison Statton and Phillip Moxham along with Epic Soundtracks. Recorded at home by Moxham, Embrace the Herd is a venerable instance of post-punk liberation to indulge every stylistic whim. With a four-track reel-to-reel, tape echo machine and menagerie of instruments, he veers from the beautifully understated and evocative “Love at First Sight” (with a timeless, quasi-R&B chorus) and the gleaming pop progression on “This Is Love” to instrumentals like “Far Concern” and “Fretting Away,” the latter evoking Young Marble Giants’ sparse but evocative work on Colossal Youth. Moxham sometimes dons a prominently mixed baritone, coos soulfully elsewhere and defers to Statton’s inimitable voice on “Clean Bridges.”) 16.00
GLAXO BABIES - Nine Months To The Disco LP (superior viaduct - After the abrupt departure of singer Rob Chapman, Bristol’s Glaxo Babies moved into more improvised and electronic-based territory. Their early demos (as compiled on Put Me on the Guest List, also available from Superior Viaduct) only hinted at such exotic sounds. Other bands from Manchester and New York were spiking post-punk with dance beats, yet Glaxo Babies were brimming with fun and spontaneity, spearheading England’s death disco movement in the process. Reportedly recorded in a single day, Nine Months to the Disco originally appeared on Heartbeat Records in 1980. Glaxo Babies’ sole proper album veers between wiry electro à la Liquid Liquid (“Free Dem Cells”), piano-based free jazz burners (“Seven Days”) and progressive post-Krautrock jams that would make even This Heat blush, culminating in the mutant funk masterpiece “Shake (The Foundations)” (which was regularly covered by The Pop Group in their live set). Nine Months to the Disco is a monster statement, equal parts ballroom bangers and dancefloor clearers. Released domestically for the first time ever with liner notes by The Pop Group founder Mark Stewart and band members Dan Catsis and Charlie Llewellin.) 18.00
GRAVE MIASMA - Odori Sepulcrorum DLP (profound lore - Initially conceived in 2002 under the guise of Goat Molestör, this band of occult death metal alchemists took their aesthetic to new plateaus of invincibility in 2008 when they rechristened themselves Grave Miasma. Soon after, a debut 35-minute EP entitled Exalted Emanation surfaced, followed by their Realm of Evoked Doom EP (which compiled material from their Goat Molestör demo days), and overnight, the London-based ensemble was known and revered worldwide throughout the death metal underground. With devastating live shows that fulfilled the promise of those initial EPs, Grave Miasma made their mark at many reputable international festivals—Roadburn, Hole in the Sky, Kill Town Deathfest, Hell’s Pleasure, Black Mass Ritual Fest, Redemption Festival in Europe; Rites of Darkness and Martyrdoom in the US, where they have also done a West Coast tour; Noctis Fest in Canada—all even before any kind of full-length had been released. Now, Grave Miasma are poised to reign amongst the death metal elite. Pure death metal revelation, their debut album Odori Sepulcrorum raises the scene to a new level, with no other 2013 work able to match its power. The release showcases a new sense of artistry, harnessing uncanny atmospherics and heaving might. A milestone in occult death metal, Odori Sepulcrorum will go down as a classic of ritual darkness.) 30.00
HEAVENLY BEAT - prominence LP (catputred tracks - "Prominence" is the 2nd full length in as many years from Texas transplant John Pena. It was recorded/mixed in the same apartment(after a failed attempt to mix in a "real" studio) as last years TALENT over the first few months of 2013 after shelving a full length's worth of songs for not being sonically or emotionally interesting enough. Using Primitive Radio God's "Standing Outside A Broken Telephone Booth With Money In My Hand" as a sonic touch point John built a new album from the ground up utilizing chopped/sampled drum breaks and, for the first time, some non laptop based keyed instruments(piano, mellotron) along with H.B. main stays classical guitar and steel drums. Live member Christian Barsi and Daniel Schlett of Strange Weather Studio both contributed keys to a few songs but the outcome is still a very solo sounding project..) 17.00
KEVIN MORBY – harlem river LP (woodsist - Harlem River marks the solo debut of songwriter Kevin Morby. Known for his work as the singer/guitarist for the Brooklyn band The Babies and bassist for Woods, the Kansas City native and new Los Angeles resident, calls the record “an homage to New York City”, his adopted home for the past five years. Harlem River features eight interweaving tales of tragedy and misfortune; a series of desperate characters playing out their dramas with the city as backdrop. A departure from some of the signature sounds of his better known projects, Morby’s songs glisten with a haunting intimacy and while he maintains that the songs are stories about other people, it’s hard not to feel a piece of him in each one; a half-imagined, half-painfully personal world of lost love, addiction, violence and prayers for the departed. The album was recorded in Los Angeles in February and March of ‘13 with producer Rob Barbato who recorded the Babies second album “Our House on the Hill” and whose guitar and bass work figure prominently on Harlem River. The album also features drummer Justin Sullivan (the Babies) as well as contributions from Will Canzoneri, Tim Presley (White Fence), Dan Iead and Cate Le Bon." - Justin Sullivan) 16.00
KHANATE - capture & release LP (hydra head - Back on vinyl again eight years after its original release, Khanate's Capture & Release is hereby presented for mass consumption once again. After introductory releases on Southern Lord and Load, Khanate delivered this sprawling two track, 40 minute monster as their debut for Hydra Head Records.) 19.00
LIVERPOOL ECHO - same LP (sing sing - “A perfect pair alongside Rockin' Horse's Yes It Is, the self-titled album by THE LIVERPOOL ECHO makes a swaggering assertion for the enduring power and captivation of the early Mersey styles of McCartney & Lennon. The idea was simple: make a hit record in the early, authentic style of the band with the most hits of all time—The Beatles—and use said record as a springboard to capitalize on the ten-year anniversary of their birth. And do it cheaply. And in only one week. While The Liverpool Echo proved perhaps too late to ferry 'cross the Mersey and too early to dilate its pupils to Starry Eyes, the record they left behind remains the most wonderfully rocking cenotaph to the original Cavern Club 'moment' that I have ever encountered. So you might as well surrender…It's for you!”) 18.00
MAMMATUS - Heady Mental LP (spritiual - If you’ve seen mammatus clouds in person, you probably noticed the way those massive formations hang heavy like wilting and bulbous gray-blue sacs, bubbling from heaven towards us. Curiously, as monstrous as they look, these gentle giants are not portents of a storm; they cradle the sky, high above where they belong. How can something so heavy float? If you’ve seen Mammatus the band in concert, you probably noticed how visual their sound is. Guitarist Nicholas Emmert sports a one-piece full-body flight-suit, bassist Chris Freels dons a space cape, and drummer Aaron Emmert steers the ship, staring straight ahead with flashing laser eyewear. The homespun wizard-cum-trippy-dad-at-a-campfire look that they’ve adopted softens the blow of the heavy aural trickery afoot.) 17.00
THE NEW FLESH - reality LP (cut teh cord – euro press - Oakland's THE NEW FLESH’s LP Reality is dark, aggressive and melodic. It draws from circumstances such as anxiety, uneasiness and the disconnectedness as a result from over stimulation. It has eight contagious songs that range from the prodding moodiness of early Killing Joke to the melancholic pop of early New Order. It is driving and punk and manages to escape the trappings of certain revivalist bands that The New Flesh are often compared to. There are layers of melodies that require several listens to fully appreciate beyond the instant hooks. Features members of NEON PISS, DESKONOCIDOS, VAASKA and HOMEOWNERS.) 11.00
NIGHTMARE BOYZZZ – bad patterns LP (slovenly - Power-pop? SCUM-POP! Get ready for a proper ass whoopin’ courtesy of Huntsville, AL’s NIGHTMARE BOYZZZ! These four crusty Buzzcocks / (early) Queers worshipping punks have assembled 11 killer tracks self-destructive swill for what will surely be heralded as the most classic record of it’s kind since the legendary Guitar Romatic LP from the gone, but not forgotten, Exploding Hearts. This Bad Patterns LP / CD features incredible axe shreddage and thunderous kit-pound throughout. From the opening anthem “Problem Child,” to every other god damn self-loathing track on this burner, Nightmare Boyzzz convulse with supersonic beer drenched grime and more hooks than a barbed wire love affair. And if that ain’t enough for ya, every inch of this creepy release has been covered in outrageous weirdo art by SEAN AABERG of the incredible Pork Magazine.) 14.00
PAMPERS - same LP (in teh red - After two incredible 7-inch singles released on the band’s own excellent Jack Shack Records, Brooklyn’s Pampers are proud to announce their debut full-length on In The Red. Pampers are a four-piece—two guitars, bass and drums, plus echo-laden vocals—and there’s a postmodern art-punk angle afoot here, yet the band’s relentless, breakneck tempos and all-out aggression tilt more punk than art. Self-described as “thug pop,” the band’s sound is a brutal, psyched-out pummeling with hooks fighting to be heard beneath the din. It’s certainly more thug than pop. Produced by Ben Greenberg of The Men, Pampers’ twelve tracks explode with opener “Eruptions” and don’t let up until “Head Bag” fizzles out in a whirl of guitar noise and equipment buzz. Everything in between is a cavernous whomp of mongoloid vox, primitive drumming and a cloud of warped sonics swirling above the rock ’n’ roll thud.) 16.00
PELICAN - the fire in our throats will beckon the thaw DLP (hydra head - Pelican's second full length album The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw , is finally back in press on 180 gram double LP.With this record, Pelican brought on new levels of complexity to their already distinctive auditory stamp. Acoustic guitars take their place beside the group's traditional (read: highly amplified) power-droning and awe-inspiring instrumental anthems. Whether it signaled the end of the underground musical landscape as we knew it, or the beginning of a new one is anyone's guess. Luckily, it rules either way.) 28.00
PETER GUTTERIDGE - pure DLP (540 - PETER GUTTRIDGE is the man who launched a thousand Flying Nun bands. Founding member of THE CLEAN, THE CHILLS, THE GREAT UNWASHED, SNAPPER and THE PUDDLE. Gutteridge released one solo album, Pure, on Xpressway Records in 1989 which was recorded between 1986-1987. Pure is “a collection of fragments and completed songs recorded on a Fostex 4 track. They were all written 2 tape, ideas going down as I made them up. I was my own technician. There were no studio bills or aesthetics 2 deal with. Recording in a studio after this experience was a frustration. Once in a while, I believe u become a kind of channel, even if slightly muddled. The tainted shamen? I don't know. What I can say is this record yer hopefully holding in hand had its genesis long b4 I ever picked up a guitar. Ive always loved a dirty drone. Notes corrupted and split apart by the miracle of the sympathetic note- ie. Bagpipe, chanters, organs, piano's, ad infinitum. Throw a few clear notes in and you achieve creation on yr own terms. Link it up 2 the background hum of the universe doing its thing and u have hypnosis in a sound. Shmaya. Now a word about distortion—fate smiled on me the day an Alron Doubler fell into my hands. Transistors are indeed wonderful things—that multiplicity of notes generated bespeaking some giant periodic table of the cosmos spewing song out of yr humble speakers. I was always blown away by the sheer variety of directions made possible by this small simple piece of divine circuitry with just 2 knobs! And I had the time, I realized this was the moment. This thing had been breathing through me all my life! The stars were in the right position 2 deliver a dose of cosmic junk 2 the hungry ears of N.Z. (The guys 2 doors along View St, Morley, Merritt and visiting co-conspirators thought the same, getting onto and forming their own opinions and units of corruption. ie. Dead C and other miscellaneous. Details—I havnt really got the patience today—whew Dunedin 1986, 7, & 9, quite a remarkable place.).) 25.00
PITRELEH - same LP (important - A full length collaboration from DUANE PITRE and ELEH. PITRELEH use high resolution analog and digital tools to create music utilizing natural vibrations and harmonics as rhythm and melody. Inspiration is drawn directly from vibrational waves (sound, gravity, water). The electronics, of which both pieces are constructed, are tuned using pure intonation which utilizes the prime numbers: 1-3-5-7. The debut live performance of Pitreleh was recently presented at the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn as well as the Museum Of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.) 20.00
RODD KEITH - Black Phoenix Blues LP (roaratrio No one in the shady, quick-buck backwater of the music industry known as the “send us your lyrics” demo mill possessed an array of talents as distinctively individual as RODD KEITH. The genius of his gifts as a singer, composer and arranger was destined to remain a well-kept secret during his lifetime by virtue of the complete disregard—verging on invisibility—in which song-poem records were held. He was a commercial musician in the most literal sense of the word, but within those confines, displayed an oddball, personal vision that frequently transcended the work-for-hire nature of his music. Dating from 1966 to 1974, the sixteen previously unreissued songs on the third Roaratorio collection of Keith’s vast output showcase the scope of his work: the should’ve-been-a-hit “You And I”; the elegant exotica of “I Love Lovely Chinese Gal”; the history lesson of “The Explosion Of Holden 22 Mine”; the harrowing psycho-killer musings of the title track; “I’m Proud To Be A Hippie From Mississippi,” the stoner’s answer to Merle Haggard’s “Okie From Muskogee”; the lo-fi “The Game Of Love” (which, in the tradition of Keith’s infamous “I’m Just The Other Woman,” prompted the dissatisfied customer to request a more conventional re-take); the disturbingly desperate “Sing My Death Note,” which was discovered on one of Keith’s private reels; and the unclassifiable WTF-ery of “Abidin’ Tuh The Rule.” Artwork by JOSH JOURNEY-HEINZ, liner notes from noted blues guitarist and one of Keith’s musical and personal compadres from the early 1970s DEBBIE DAVIES, download coupon.) 18.00
SKEPTICS - III LP (flying nun - The Skeptics were a postpunk noise band from Palmerston North, New Zealand active from 1979-1990. During their existence as a band Skpetics released 4 albums an EP and 10'' single before the band disbanded in 1990 due to member David D'Ath's tragic lost battle with leukaemia. III showcases the bands abrasive and haunting sound as well as their pioneering embracing nature of early sampling technology in a time when jangle guitar pop was prominent on Flying Nun records. Despite being left of center Skeptics III made an impact in New Zealand due to the controversial video for AFFCO named after a meat work company in the North Island. The video shows graphic footage of an animal slaughter house and was banned from national television. -) 18.00
SKEPTICS - amalgam LP (captured tracks - The Skeptics were a postpunk noise band from Palmerston North, New Zealand active from 1979-1990. During their existence as a band Skpetics released 4 albums an EP and 10''. While working "Amalgam" in 1989, David D'Ath learned that he had leukaemia. D'Ath never got to see the finished product which however, it is cited to be a tribute to David. It shows Skeptics at their best, dark brooding with a wall of noise created by the bands unique talent and adaptation of early sampling technology. Amalgam is all encompassing.) 18.00
STAR SPANGLED BANANA - Pebbles 2000 LP (agitated - Whoa! Daddy-o! Here's some 100% hi-octane grooviness!!! Agitated is pleased to announce release of the long awaited debut album from these pioneers of the happening sound soon to be known to the masses as BUBBLEGRUNGE! Yes, believe it! Dirty amps tweaked to a happenin’ rhythm and floorshaking beat, eviscerating the soul of your tired and over-referenced Nuggets comps and bustin’ you loose with some wild grunt and grind! The songs may be familiar, but you will be too furiously wigging out to even care who or what wrote them in the first place! It's an ever-lovin' tribute to the bubblegum greats of yore! The Beatles! The Monkees! Paul Revere! Tommy James! Flipper! And more! “Probably the Koolest thing that’s ever happened on this planet!” 500 Banana yellow vinyl LPs with a free CD of the musick) 18.00
STEVE MOORE - pangaea ultima DLP (editions mego - How can we imagine the future of the world, away from the standards of time that we have insisted upon giving it? How to conceive of the movements of a world in its arcs and sweeps of continents and oceans across ages without reducing it to cheap historical humanisations? Does a past, present or future even matter to the yet-to-exist events of ungraspable and fundamental ecological time?.) 21.00
STREET EATERS - s/t LP (cut the cord - “Street Eaters (Megan March and John No) live in Berkeley, California and are lifelong residents of the East Bay region. The band strives to wring the absolute maximum sound out of a minimalist setup: Megan plays the drums, John plays the bass, and they both sing. The music and lyrics are written entirely collaboratively by the two band members. There is no one else in the band, and there won’t be in the future..) 11.00
SUNN o))) - black one DLP re issue (southern lord - Thick Stoughton style gatefold jacket. The sixth and darkest sunn 0))) album featuring very special guests Oren Ambarchi, Wrest (Leviathan/Lurker of Chalice/ Twilight) Malefic (Xasthur, Twilight) and John Weise (Bastard Noise). Tonal magma explosions created under the influence of utter blackest atmospheres, sunn 0))) endlessly seeks to push boundaries and demolish pre-conceived ideas of their eminence. Sinister vocal performances courtesy of Wrest (known for his solo work under the names Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice) and Malefic (known for his solo work under the name Xasthur) literally call from beyond the grave. Unorthodox and experimental recording methods were used to obtain the petrifying eerie tone of the voices on this album. For the epic side 4 piece, "Bathory Erzebet", sunn 0))) procured a casket then loaded it into a Cadillac Hearse, and locked Malefic inside with only a microphone and a severe sense of claustrophobia. The result is truly suffocating and disturbing Mammoth giants crushing valleys of the drowned.) 27.00
SWEET TALK - Flash Of Light LP (12xu – In the wake of their universally hailed 2013 full-length debut, Pickup Lines, the firm of SVACINA / FRAZIER / ASSI and JONES, aka Austin's SWEET TALK, return with six new songs, created this past May in Denton, TX with the Marked Men's MARK RYAN and JEFF BURKE at the recording desk. The twin-guitar attack of Stephen Svacina and Mitch Fraizer has been captured in all it's multi-dimensional glory ; for those stunned by Pickup Lines' all-killer/no-filler collection of new pop classics, Flash Of Light is ample evidence these guys were merely getting started. Featuring guys who are in/out of such bands as UPTOWN BUMS, CHURCH SHOES, WICCANS, MIND SPIDERS, OBN IIIs, BRAIN ATTACK, JONLY BONLY, VIDEO and probably a few more by the time you're done reading this.) 13.00
THEE OH SEES - Singles Collection 3 LP (castel face - It's no secret that JOHN DWYER and THEE OH SEES put out a ton of stuff. Not just full-lengths—of which there are many—but singles, split releases, compilations and even books. The dude cooks in many kitchens, but the sauce is always tasty. Castle Face is proud to continue their tradition of occasionally corralling these rarer gems onto the convenient LP format. For even the most insane Oh Sees collectors, the inclusion of an unreleased, mutated live version of “Block of Ice” makes this a must-have. To sweeten the deal, the tunes have been gussied up ever-so-slightly to knock you nightly, and the incredible tritone artwork by SHALO P is printed on blinding silver-foil jackets.) 16.00
VATICAN SHADOW - Remember Your Black Day LP (hospital - Remember Your Black Day is the debut album proper from VATICAN SHADOW, the first material conceived and produced as a full-length by DOMINICK FERNOW for the project following almost a dozen tapes (mostly released on Hospital Productions) and vinyl editions (released by the likes of Blackest Ever Black, Modern Love, and Type) over the last three years. None of the eight tracks included have been released before on any other format. At a time when the scene is saturated with "noise techno," the album is almost celebratory by contrast, balancing caustic licks of distortion and oppressive bass with cleanly mixed synth tones and ricocheting claps in a shell-shocked, surreal soundsphere. With production assistance from JUAN MENDEZ (SILENT SERVANT), the album includes the most direct and propulsive Vatican Shadow material yet, continuing an evolutionary shift away from the complex, collage-based narrative of those cassette releases into more visibly direct contact with the listener. There is a functional connection to dance music here, honing in on the human element embedded within a subject matter so fraught with inhumanity.) 25.00
THE VERLAINES - halleluhjah all the way home LP (flying nun - The Verlaines 1985 debut album, Hallelujah - All the Way Home defined both the Dunedin band''s style and the ''Flying Nun sound''. Grounded in songwriter Graeme Downes’ innate and inventive sense of melody, at the heart of these 8 songs are magnificent tales of drunkards and romantics all punctuated by guitar blasts and instrumental flourishes. Re-issued in its'' original gatefold format along with a replica album release poster from the time.) 18.00
THE VERLAINES - juvenilia LP (flying nun - Juvenilia is a compilation of the Verlaines’ brilliant early singles and EPs. First released in 1987, and reissued in 1993 with bonus tracks it documents the band’s early history and is the perfect introduction to one of New Zealand’s great bands. Opening with the irrepressible ‘Death and the Maiden’, a song that for many is archetypal of the group’s deft ability to weild a pop hook. The album also features their first two tracks, ‘Angela’ and ‘Crisis After Crisis’, recorded on Chris Knox’s four track and released on the infamous Dunedin Double EP. Juvenilia, complete with orchestral and brass flourishes, is a constant display of the unstoppable songwriting skills of vocalist/guitarist Graeme Downes. From single ‘Doomsday’ through to their perfect love song ‘Joed Out’, Juvenilia is a compilation filled with all the elegant and often magnificently moody elements of the Verlaines.) 18.00
V/A - Hassaniya Music From The Western Sahara And Mauritania LP (sublime freqencies - In 2006, HISHAM MAYET returned to West Africa to continue his search for an unknown musician he had heard six months earlier on the radio in a Morocco hotel room. Knowing only that it was Sahrawi music—music of the south—he headed down through the vast and remote desert landscape of the Western Sahara and Mauritania in hopes of finding someone who could identify these revelatory recordings. The story of how he finally found this elusive artist is the stuff of ethnomusicological legend. But he also found much, much more as he wandered from Laâyoune, Western Sahara, to Mauritania's capital city of Nouakchott. From intimate, sinuous home recordings by GROUP MARWANI, to a sublimely devastating track by the enigmatic ABDUL RAHMAN AL-GHEID, to the inimitable tidinit artistry of SADOUM OULED AIDA, the performers on this album exemplify the haunting and intoxicating qualities of Sahrawi music. Featuring Mayet's first recordings of the electrifying GROUP DOUEH, as well as dizzying field recordings from Nouakchott's Marché Capitale—where relentless traffic noise swirls together with fragments of melody from countless cassette vendors' PA speakers—Hassaniya Music from the Western Sahara and Mauritania is the evocative soundtrack to a chimerical journey that is also documented visually in Sublime Frequencies' breathtaking film Palace of the Winds. It not only traces Mayet's own passage through these barren and beautiful lands, but also charts the evolution of Sahrawi music from sung poetry accompanied by traditional acoustic instruments to electrifying modern grooves drenched in reverb and phase effects. Limited edition pressing with Stoughton tip-on full-color gatefold jacket.) 25.00
V/A - Mountains Of Tongues: Musical Dialects of The Caucasus LP (lm dupilcation - Because of its unique geography—situated at the borders of Europe and Asia, between the Caspian and Black seas—the Caucasus has been at the crossroads of multiple empires as well as home to an exceptionally diverse population, resulting in a rich mosaic of history, culture, religion and language. Early Arab travelers referred to the region as the “Mountains of Tongues,” a term that reflected both the geographic and linguistic variety. An incredible number of languages and traditions still exist, but many have yet to be thoroughly documented and are close to disappearing completely. Since the fall of the Soviet Union the majority of attention the Caucasus has received from the outside world has been as a result of wars in Chechnya, Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The countries of this region have also struggled to forge national identities, a process that has often resulted in the exclusion of smaller folk cultures (ethnic Azeris from Georgia, Kurds from Tbilisi, Avars and Lezgis from Azerbaijan, or Molokans in the South Caucasus, all groups that don’t fit the category of “national” folk music). Mountains of Tongues: Musical Dialects from the Caucasus includes recordings of songs in languages that have rarely been caught on tape (Lezgi and Batsbi), instruments that only exist in extremely small numbers (the Tushetian chianuri, of which there are only two, and the agach komuz from the remote territory of Dagestan) and performances from a variety of underrepresented ethnic minority communities. These musicians, whether they recognize it or not, are guardians of the distinct musical cultures of the Caucasus, a region whose many traditions are still relatively unknown to the rest of the world.) 16.00

In dedication to the stupidity of humanity: Cut the Cord That... Records presents the debut twelve inch extended play platter of the Valley Boys. Ten songs that convey the complete and utter disappointment, disillusionment, and distaste for social norms and the society that feeds your malnourished thought process. With all the love of a stillborn child and a hot glass of milk this record will penetrate a little solace to your otherwise mundane daily life. WIDOWSPEAK - the swamps LP (captured tracks - "The Swamps arrives as a bridge between the duo's sophomore album, Almanac, and an as yet untitled third studio record. Here the band's characteristic sonic landscapes, haunting harmonies, and layers of delicate guitar-work usher in a new chapter in their dark and dreamy catalog. Inspired by the light-choked wetlands of its title, The Swamps brims with songs about fears of stagnation and the pitfalls of nostalgia, but never relinquishes Widowspeak's melodic optimism.") 16.00

KARREN ABLAZE - City Is Ablaze: The Story Of A Post-punk Popzine 1984-1994 BOOK (Ablaze fanzine was published in Manchester and Leeds in the late eighties and early nineties by Karren Ablaze!. The best bits of this notorious and outspokenly passionately zine are now available in book format. Alongside hundreds of zine pages, The City is Ablaze features new writings by Karren and other members of the Ablaze! team, as well as interviews with other zine writers, essays by DIY cultural commentators, a re-examination of the Riot Grrrl movement, and an epilogue by Gary Jarman (the Cribs). The 320 page A4 book covers other zines that Karren produced in Manchester and Leeds between 1984 and 1994, capturing an era where DIY was de rigueur and indie actually meant something. You'll be able to read original interviews with the following bands (in chronological order). Eyeless in Gaza, the Membranes, the Stone Roses, the Inca Babies, Tools You Can Trust, the Bodines, Inspiral Carpets, the Pastels, the Janitors, Happy Mondays, King of the Slums, the Dust Devils, the Shamen, Cud, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, the Pixies, Throwing Muses, the Sundays, Thrilled Skinny, Rapeman, UT, Dog Faced Hermans, Edsel Auctioneer, Mudhoney, AC Temple, fIREHOSE, Band of Susans, Henry Rollins, Live Skull, Kilgore Trout, the Sun and the Moon, the Breeders, Happy Flowers, Silverfish, the Keatons, the Stretchheads, Pregnant Neck, Mayomberos Alive, Fluff, Archbishop Kebab, Nirvana, Pale Saints, Mercury Rev, The Heart Throbs, Babes in Toyland, American Music Club, Hole, Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Shudder to Think, the Wedding Present, Leatherface, Nation of Ulysses, Tsunami, Poster Children, Sugar, Moonshake, Hood, Polvo, Pavement, The book also includes irate letters from Morrissey and Thurston Moore. The City is Ablaze reads like a musical history of the late eighties and early nineties, a history that could only be obtained by surfing the sliproads, sneaking backstage at a thousand shows, sleeping on strangers' floors and living to type up the tales of the sounds that defined an era.) 45.00
